The 2 Main Types Of Water Alkaline Machine.

May 16, 2018

WATER ALKALINE MACHINES

These machines filter and alter the PH balance of regular tap water to the optimal level for our bodies. The filter is typically an activated carbon filter which will remove impurities and pollutants from the water.

The two main types of Alkaline machines are;

1.    Alkaline Water Ionizer

2.    Ceramics Alkaline Water Filter

ALKALINE WATER IONIZER

An Alkaline Water Ionizer filters and changes the water’s PH through electrolysis, a process whereby water is passed through a electromagnetic field to ionize the water. A D.C charge is passed through , two electrodes, or two(or more) plates (typically made from some inert metal such as platinum, stainless steel or iridium) which are placed in the water. Hydrogen will appear at the cathode (where electrons enter the water), and oxygen will appear at the anode.

This decomposes the water into Oxygen and Hydrogen. The water transformed are separated into two streams – Alkaline Water with higher Hydrogen content for drinking and Oxidized Acidic Water which is lower in Hydrogen content. used for cleaning.

Most systems sit on top of the counter next to the faucet, but there are also higher end units that fit beneath the sink cabinet. Of course, it is generally more expensive than counter top models.

Pros

Uses both a filter and Ionizing process through electrolysis

Cons

More suitable for hard water

Do not remove germs, bacteria and viruses

Requires electricity

More expensive

High maintenance

CERAMIC ALKALINE WATER FILTER

A specific type of filter that uses active ceramic beads media with a small pore size to filter out everything from sediment, to bacteria, to lead out of your drinking water and reduce the PH of tap water.

These types of filter can be classified into pot type or candle type. They may be attached or sat on top of a plastic or ceramic receptacle. The advantage of candle types over pot types is it fits most types of receptacle and can easily be replaced.

Ceramic Beads

Although the exact composition may vary, ceramic water filters are generally made from tiny fossil substance made up of silicon shells left by trillions of microscopic, one celled algae deposited in lake beds millions of years ago.

This prehistoric sediment is known as diatomaceous earth (or kieselguhr).

Today there are over 1500 uses of this material, including as a polishing agent in nail polish and as an insulator in kilns. The diatomaceous silica is fired at high temperatures into a ceramic cartridge or ceramic filter candle.

How it Works?

By allowing the water to seep through tens of millions of pores in the water cartridge surface, the cartridge consists of a series of different ceramic beads filter formulated for different functions.

In the process, organic and inorganic particulates too large to pass through (often anything larger than 0.5 micron) accumulate on the ceramic surface. It also adds minerals such as Calcium, potassium, Sodium and Magnesium.

These active ceramic beads when immersed in water, display semi conductivity, magnetic properties, and far-infrared emission. These act like miniature electric cells, the electric current flowing between them causes electrolysis of the water. The far-infrared emitted by the ceramic beads stimulates the oxidation process.

Contaminants that may have penetrated the topmost layer are trapped within the underlying complicated structure of the ceramic water filter cartridge. Inside the ceramic filter, even much smaller particles can be captured. It will commonly remove up to 99% of pathogenic bacteria including salmonella, cholera and E. Coli, as well. Larger contaminants left on the top most layer can be clean by brushing with a soft brush and rinsing with clean water.

Many ceramic filters also incorporate a silver compound into the ceramic itself, acting as a bacteriostatic agent to repel bacterial growth in and on the filter. A granular activated carbon core may also be added to the ceramic core to reduce chlorine and other undesirable taste & odor issues–as well as pesticides.

Inside the Filter

Super Ceramic (far infrared ray):

Increase water taste by emitting Far InfraRed and supplies useful minerals

Silver Antibacterial Bead:

Antibacterial Deodorizing effect & heavy metal removal

Alkaline Bead:

Alkalinizes water to perfect pH level

DeChlorination Bead:

Removes Chlorine & Chloramines - Calcium Sulphite (CaSO3)

Negative Ion Bead:

Emits Negative Ions - Increases Dissolved Oxygen

Pi (π) Bead:

Activates hexagonal water molecule to energize

Tourmaline Bead:

micro-clusters water with wave of Piezio electric current - Emits FIR & Negative Ion

Pros

Retain minerals essential for the body

Easy to maintain

Affordable

Cons

Some models do not remove heavy metals

Ceramic is fragile.  Not drop proof.
